Dear Yuletide author!
General stuff: I love the interactions between characters, dialogue, snark, personality clashes, confessions, romance. I love stories where characters come out of the story changed in some way, even if it's a subtle change. I love stories that don't provide oversimplified resolutions to complex situations, where things aren't necessarily all neatly wrapped up at the end - it's okay if everything's not completely resolved and happily ever after, as long as there's some hope for the future. I like fic that challenges traditional gender expectations and roles. I love humour, as highbrow or lowbrow as you like, depending on what suits the story. Please feel free to include other characters from any of these canons in supporting roles, or to make up original characters, whatever works for your story.
While I feel that porn can easily be the meat (heh) of a story, I like it best when it is wrapped in at least a delicate layer of plot, and when I can believe that it's these particular characters having sex. But I really and truly am open to fic of any rating! If you are more of a fade-to-black sort of author, that's fine; if you want to show me non-shippy character interaction - friendship, rivalry, adventure, introspection, found family - that's great too. However, if you do feel inspired to go the more porny route, I love m/m, f/f, m/f, threesomes, foursomes, moresomes, poly relationships of all configurations, bisexuality, kink - and I'm very hard to squick, so don't worry about that. (If you want to read more about my general porny likes/dislikes/ideas, you can get an idea by reading this post.)
DNW: non-canon deaths or completely depressing endings
All the rest of this is just in case you feel more comfortable writing with some idea of what I love about the source material, or a starting point to go on - if you have a different idea than one I've listed here, please go for it. So, on to the specific fandoms!
Castlevania (Cartoon) (Alucard, Sypha, Trevor)
I enjoy Trevor's and Sypha's sassiness, and the banter between them and Alucard is great. The end of season 3 was so sad, and I don't want to leave them like that! So I'm interested in anything that gives them more opportunities to interact together - either to bring them back together, or expand on missing scenes or events in canon. I certainly ship the three of them, but if you want to keep it more general friendship/adventure bros, that's fine as well.
Gargoyles (Cartoon) (Elisa Maza, Goliath)
I love the slowly-developing bond of trust between Elisa and Goliath, and how despite how different their backgrounds, lives, and personalities are, they're able to come to understand one another. I absolutely ship them, but if you want to keep things at the level of the show, where for the most part they're friends and trusted allies, with some pining and UST for one another, that's fine too!
Yet Another Fantasy Gamer Comic (Lucas, Cadugan)
I'd like something that explores Lucas and Cadugan's gloriously snarky/sweet relationship, or their gradually growing friendship if you want to tackle something from earlier in canon. If you want to just stick to the two of them and the various challenges they face (Lucas's family curse, his obligation to produce an heir, tension between Cadugan's love for the wilderness and castle life, future adventures, etc.), that's great, but feel free to include other characters as well if you want! Whatever ensues, I would prefer for Lucas and Cadugan to ultimately end up together, but if there are emotional complications, arguments, gender-bending, threesomes, that's fine. I love the humour of the comic too, so if you can incorporate any of that flavour, that's great.
Without A Clue (1988) (Reginald "Sherlock Holmes" Kincaid, John Watson)
A future case. Wacky misadventures. 'Holmes' and Watson caring about each other and annoying one another at the same time. That's really all I'm asking for :) Something in the tone of the movie would be great, with perhaps some slashy tension or even sex if you feel so inclined, but certainly not required! I am not a major expert on actual Sherlock Holmes canon (I've read some of the stories but by no means all) so references to that might go over my head, but on the other hand, that means you can shamelessly pilfer plot details if you like.
Gentlemen of the Road - Michael Chabon (Amram, Zelikman)
More adventures of the greatest con men and thieves of the 10th century, please! Either pre- or post-canon would be fine. The book really gives the sense that they've had so many adventures and so much history together, and anything that shows a bit more of that would be wonderful. Other places they've travelled or other mishaps they've gotten themselves into? I love the banter and the snark and the obvious affection (even if it's sometimes strained by circumstances) between Amram and Zelikman. If you view this as a romantic pairing and want to develop their relationship so that it includes sex, that's great - if you don't, they can be platonic life partners and that's also great! Basically either way I'm happy!
The Eagle of the Ninth - Rosemary Sutcliff (Marcus Flavius Aquila, Esca Mac Cunoval, Cottia)
I'd love something that explores their lives together after the end of the book. How does it work with them building a farm together - what obstacles do they need to overcome, are they happy with that life? I'd be delighted with domestic slice of life here, with polyamory as a definite option. Otherwise, do they have any further adventures? They're living in an age with a lot of transitions and changes - does that affect their ability to build a more peaceful life for themselves?
